What does Putin want and will he get it?

Russian President Putin wants to end NATO and he will get it, very likely!

1. Reality check

The image below is worth more than 1,000 words.

Simply put, NATO expansion after 1991 is the root cause of the current “crisis” over there in Europe, and the real solution is for NATO to be back to the pre-1991 status, thus practically ending NATO.

2. What does President Putin want, specifically?

Short-term: He wants a written security guarantee from America. Specifically, here are four Russian demands (4 things Russia wants right now):

• A guarantee Ukraine can never join NATO.
• NATO arms out of Eastern Europe.
• A ban on NATO missiles within striking distance.
• Autonomy for eastern Ukraine.

Long-term: He wants to end NATO, thus getting America out of Europe.

3. What has President Putin done so far?

Three big deals:

• Make Russia great again: He has stabilized Russia, both politically and economically.
• Use Russia’s vast natural resources as a tool: One prominent example is Wikipedia – Nord Stream.
• Alliance with China: Read “Joint Russia-China Statement”. In short, a message to America: if you want to fight, you have to fight both of us, at the same time!

4. Is he successful?

Yes, so far!

Specifically, by simply moving some troops around, Russia has already achieved its main objective (in phase 1): let America talk up the possibility of a war in Ukraine, so as to

• Weaken Ukraine’s economy and upset Europe.
• Divide Europe and America.

Next phase?

Keep up the pressure and “let them fight among themselves, without us”!

5. Discussion

Why has President Putin been so successful so far?

Two main reasons:

• The world has finally understood what America really is.
• President Biden is weak (and so was President Trump).

Let me elaborate on each …

5.1 The world has finally understood what America really is

America likes wars (Jimmy Carter: US ‘Most Warlike Nation in History of the World’)!

America lied to launch a pre-emptive war in Iraq in 2003 and may do it again, with Ukraine this time! Below is an analogy:

• 2002: “Iraq has WMDs”.
• 2022: “Russia will invade Ukraine” imminently (not).

As a matter of fact, NATO has simply been, over the past three decades at least, an extension of America’s evil MIC!

Any doubt?

Ask the folks in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria – America destroyed all of them!

Now, with the war in Afghanistan over, America is desperately in need of a new war …

Why is that?

In an extreme view, the US government has two primary functions:

• Buying weapons at home.
• Selling weapons abroad.

Fact: The only significant bill passed by the US Congress in 2021, with overwhelming bi-partisan support (highlighted by the image below), was the defense bill, with more money to the Pentagon than it asked for!

5.2 President Biden is weak

6. More discussion

Everything considered, such as America’s domestication of its foreign policy and its inability to adapt, President Putin may have to take an extreme step to end NATO: installing missiles in Cuba and/or Venezuela, thus causing Cuban Missile Crisis II!

Over time, if America continues its current foreign policy unchanged, do not be surprised to see Russian and Chinese warships showing up together at America’s coastlines, in the name of “freedom of navigation”.

It’s called “let America taste its own medicine”.

7. Still more discussion

Will President Putin eventually be successful to end NATO?

Yes, very likely. Two main reasons:

• “NATO is obsolete”, Donald Trump, 2016.
• America’s global hegemony is over, thanks to the rise of China and Russia.

Worse yet for America, to win a “war” like this, you must minimally understand both yourself and your opponent(s). Russia and China understand both, but America understands neither (President Biden in the Real World of Three New Kingdoms).

More profoundly, America, reform our failing political system, as I have suggested (History 2.0 – China’s Comeback vs. America’s Decline), or become a fiddle, second to China!

8. Closing

I wish President Biden will, from now on, better handle Russia’s demand of a written security guarantee (Putin Says U.S. Ignored Russia’s Demands – Kremlin), or we may face the Cuban Missile Crisis II! If that happens, will President Biden ably handle it as JFK did with the Cuban Missile Crisis almost 60 years ago?
