It is time for the world, especially America, to truly understand what communism is and its implications for the world.
1. What is communism?
Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – Communism:
Communism (from Latin communis, ‘common, universal’)[1][2] is a far-left[3][4][5] philosophical, social, political, and economic ideology and movement whose goal is the establishment of a communist society, namely a socioeconomic order based on the idea of common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange—allocating products to everyone in the society.[6][7][8] It can involve the absence of social classes, money,[9] and the state.[10][11][12] Communism, while sometimes used as a synonym of socialism, is mainly a specific, yet distinct, form of socialism. Communists often seek a voluntary state of self-governance, but disagree on the means to this end. This reflects a distinction between a more libertarian approach of communization, revolutionary spontaneity, and workers’ self-management, and a more vanguardist or communist party-driven approach through the development of a constitutional socialist state followed by Friedrich Engels‘ withering away of the state.[13]
2. Communism: Karl Marx’s definition
To me, the best way to describe Marx’s definition of communism is via his societal development model shown below.
However, this 150-year-old model has proven to be gravely inadequate today. So, it has been enhanced with my Loop theory highlighted below.
Three informative readings:
3. Chinese communism
China calls itself a “socialist country with Chinese characteristics”. However, for many Americans, China is simply communist for two main reasons:
- Most Americans make no difference between socialism and communism.
- The ruling party in China is called the “Communist Party of China” (or CPC), which gives China-haters in America a convenient way of bashing China – Read Why does America hate China?
For all practical purposes, let’s accept China as “communist”.
4. Communism: a practical definition for the world
It has turned out that [Chinese] communism has two phases:
- A violent proletarian revolution to overthrow a bourgeois government.
- A peaceful evolution to “state capitalism”.
China has gone through both phases, succeeding hugely with no end in sight. For more, read China’s state capitalism = communism + capitalism.
In contrast, most, if not all, Eastern European countries, including Russia, did phase 1 but failed to advance to phase 2 – They gave up too soon!
Western Europe generally understands and accepts Karl Marx’s theory. So, it’s time to understand and accept this practical definition of communism and understand its implications.
What about America?
5. Communism and America
Read the image below and think …
Specifically, America must recognize two big things:
- The American Revolution is a bourgeois revolution by/of/for the super-rich (i.e., top 1%). For more, read: What is the American Revolution, anyway?
- America has been having a bourgeois government throughout its life so far. This government is for the super-rich (i.e., top 1%)!
As a result, America has been so poorly governed throughout its life so far that it is no longer governable. For more, read Is America no longer governable?
America, reform our failing political system, as I have suggested (History 2.0 – China’s Comeback vs. America’s Decline).
The alternative is to face a proletarian revolution (A quarter of Americans open to taking up arms against government, poll says), thus starting phase 1 of communism in America!
6. Closing
Once again, it is time for the world, especially America, to truly understand what communism is and its implications for the world! This post has helped, hopefully …
