9/11/2001 vs. 10/7/2023

In a previous post (America between Israel and Palestine?), I talked about the Israel-Palestine conflict escalated by the recent Hamas attack on Israel. In this post, I will compare the event of 10/7/2023 with that of 9/11/2001, although even America’s MSM has started doing it (e.g., On GPS: A peace plan for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict).

1. Overview of 9/11/2001

Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia – September 11 attacks:

The September 11 attacks, commonly known as 9/11,^[d] were four coordinated Islamist suicide terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States in 2001.

2. America’s response

The image below offers a highlight.

Simply put, America’s response was much worse than the attack itself not only for America, but also for the world. As a result, I have no doubt that Bush II will eventually be recognized in history as the world’s #1 war criminal in the 21^st century, so far!

3. Overview of 10/7/2023

Below is an excerpt from this article: Israel is at war with Hamas. Here’s what to know.

Militants from Gaza fired thousands of rockets towards Israeli towns on October 7, before breaking through the heavily fortified border fence with Israel and sending militants deep into Israeli territory. There, Hamas gunmen killed more than 1,400 people, including civilians and soldiers, and took up to 150 hostages, according to Israeli authorities.

4. Israel’s response

5. Discussion

Here are some similarities between these two events:

Both America and Israel were indeed attacked on these two dates, respectively.
Neither was “unprovoked,” as America and Israel proclaimed. Both were revenge attacks, thanks, in a large part, to America’s reckless foreign policy in the Mideast (The Mideast without America?).
Both America and Israel lost the cool head after being attacked – Both failed to recognize, let alone address, the root cause, and overacted with the responses being outrageously out of proportion!

Specifically, two highlights:

9/11/2001: America not only launched a war in Afghanistan, which lasted for 20 years, but also destroyed Iraq, which will eventually prove to be the beginning of the end of America, as we know it. For more, read the book cited at the end of this post.
10/7/2023: Israel massively bombed Gaza, with the far worse yet to come. Hopefully, Israel would exercise the greatest constraint possible, without further alienating the world!
