Dancing Queens & Kings: Call for Participation – New

Dancing Queens & Kings: Call for Participation – New

I am re-starting my book (“Dancing Queens & Kings”), and this is a new CFP (Call for Participation).

The photo below was taken on 6/6/2024 (at the Chicago Crystal Ball).

My handwritten prediction has come true for one simple reason: We encountered a significant issue of “photo copyright.” We have worked hard over the past two months to resolve this issue but without success. It is like trying to put the toothpaste back into the tube—impossible!

So, I am re-starting this, trying to do everything right from the start, especially regarding the photos taken by professional photographers, thus this new CFP.

The book has two simple requirements for participation:

  • You must have competed at the USDC or OSB (2024 inclusive).
  • You must have a compelling story to tell.

I am looking for 10 additional participants on top of the 30 already in. First come, first accept. Here is the timeline:

  • 9/30/2024: 1 page highlighting your compelling story in pro/am ballroom dancing.
  • 12/31/2024: 12-page full story (in MS Word).
  • 3/31/2025: Book publication @Amazon.

For an overview of the book, read Dancing Queens & Kings.

For some 1-page examples, read Dancing Queens & Kings: Call for Participation (5) and Dancing Queens & Kings: Call For Participation.

Below is a list of book proof-reads by some of the current participants:

  • Miriam Atkins: I received the book. It is beautiful and so well done.
  • Giovanni Fortezza: Got it today, looks great!
  • Nichelle Kennedy: It really turned out beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised.
  • Eric Leininger: very impressive! Exceeded my expectations!
  • Leslie McLeod: It has arrived. It looks very impressive and your efforts produced a wonderful product.
  • Mercedes Soria: The book is gorgeous! Have not read it yet but looks great!
  • Jane Zhang: What a fabulous book! Like a precious diamond, this book will be one of my family heirlooms.

There has never been a book like this, nor will there be in the foreseeable future. So, seize the opportunity to make history along with the industry’s “who is who” – No guts, no glory!
