Episode 3 of the reality TV show “Dancing Queens” was aired on May 23. It is briefly reviewed here, followed by some new developments along the same line since my last review (“Dancing Queens”: A Critical Review (2)) was published on May 17.
1. A brief review of Episode 3
Three highlights:
- It presents the journeys of the six ladies from Tri-State (tristatechallenge.com/) to (1) the American Star Ball (americanstarball.com/) for Leonie and (2) the New Orleans Open (noladc.com/) for the other five ladies. Unfortunately, the competition results are not shown, until the next episode, I guess.
- I found the results online! Leonie won the Scholarship out of four competitors. The result of the Scholarship at New Orleans: Out of five competitors, Sabrina (1st), Colette (2nd), Gaëlle (3rd), and Donie (4th). So, both competitions in Latin were smaller than Tri-State, which had nine competitors.
- It was annoying to see, on average, three minutes of ads after seven minutes of the show!
Oh, it is nice for me to see Nino and Andra, the 2022 world champions in Latin, being highlighted in both words and screens several times. I was lucky enough to be coached by them both in 2022 – See photo below.
2. From the reality show to the reality
Below is an image from my first review (“Dancing Queens”: A Critical Review).
The ladies on the right may be too old for TV ratings, but they are the real queens in the industry of ballroom dancing! I have therefore decided to write a book about them – They deserve to be more widely known and even honored in history!
3. A new book entitled “Dancing Queens & Kings”
The image below is the tentative cover of this new book, to be published by November 30, 2023.
Both Sam Sodano (who runs the OSB) and Wayne Eng (who runs the USDC) are pioneers of the industry of ballroom dancing. I have already asked them to take up the roles as I have suggested on the cover. Pending their replies, the cover may look different, but “you” and I will determine the contents!
4. Who are “you” then?
You must be a real dancing queen or king defined as follows:
- A real queen must win an Open (Gold & above) Scholarship at the USDC or OSB, once at least.
- A real king must win an Open (Gold & above) Gentlemen Championship at the USDC or OSB, once at least.
Everyone meeting the definition above is invited to participate in this book. You may nominate yourself or someone else. But a nominate must be alive, just like all the nominees for the Nobel prize. I expect about 100 participants in the end.
5. Timeline

- 6/30: I will send you a template (in Word) to write. It is for the look of the book and easy integration of your chapter. You have plenty of room to write whatever you want with four pages.
- 7/30: Submit your writing.
- 9/30: Book ready for review.
- 11/30: Publication @Amazon.
6. The industry needs a book like this!
Personally, I have been wanting to write such a book for a while. Two main reasons:
- I write a lot with a wide range of topics, from politics (Brainwashing and America), to parenting (The battle hymn of the tiger father), and to history (History 2.0 – China’s Comeback vs. America’s Decline).
- I was looking for a book like this when I started ballroom dancing eight years ago – None was available then, or now. This reality show has triggered me to write this book, finally!

7. Closing
I will continue to watch the remaining four episodes of “Dancing Queens” and review them one by one like this post does.
