Droughts occur everywhere in the world. In this article, we discuss the ongoing drought in the Central Amazon. The discussion is based on a Climate.gov Post.
I have provided almost the entire Climate.Gov Post but you can access the Post HERE.
Monsoon? Yes, South America has a counterpart to the North American Monsoon. But it occurs at a different time of the year. Most people do not realize that there are two nodes to both the North American and South American Monsoon. Yes indeed. For North America, the Main Node is in the Southwest with the secondary Node being in Florida. The NWS rarely if ever discusses this. There is a similar situation in South America which the graphic above shows. I have written an article on this a long time ago. It would be difficult to find the link to that article. |
Precipitation was fairly normal but the evapotranspiration resulted in drought so I suspect it was warmer than usual. That is discussed right before this graphic. |
Here is a more recent weather map for South America. The problem remains and probably is probably associated with El Nino. I do not have the new JAMSTEC World forecast. A short-term World forecast can always be found in my daily weather article which can be accessed at Econcurrents.com You will find it towards the end of the article. |
